Through a balanced mix of mechanical, architectural, civil, and structural drafting, students gain a comprehensive knowledge of drafting, using both traditional drawing boards and computer aided drafting (CAD). LSTC uses state-of-the-art CAD labs
and small class sizes to ensure individual attention and quality instruction. Graduates of this program are qualified to work as industrial and architectural designers, engineering technicians, cost estimators, and sales technicians. Drafting and design technicians often assist engineers with design and development work. Upon graduation, students are eligible for certification
by the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA).
Project Lead the Way College Credit Design Drafting Technology faculty members believe that Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum provides an excellent foundation for a career in design drafting as a CAD technician. High school students who excel in their PLTW courses can earn college credit towards an Associate of Applied Science degree at Linn State.
