Electrical Distribution Systems
This field has a high demand for experienced individuals resulting in high pay.
Students who graduate from this program will have attained the basic knowledge
and skills of electrical distribution systems including climbing wood pole
structures, building and maintaining both overhead and underground electrical
distribution systems, using safe work practices, administering first aid, and
performing pole top rescue. All students become CPR certified and obtain a
commercial driver’s license. Graduates of the EDS program are employed in the
field with an advanced apprenticeship rating.

Additional Application Requirements:

Submit the completed High School Attendance
Record from signed by your high school counselor. Transfer students
and students who earned GEDs rather than high school diplomas do not need to
submit the high school attendance record form.

Driving record, which qualifies you for a
Missouri Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). A DUI/DWI within
the past year without rehabilitation and/or three (3) speeding tickets
within the past two years will disqualify the applicant. The Driving
Record may be obtained from your local License Bureau or from the Department
of Revenue. If you have a CDL, submit both a Driving Record and a copy
of your license. The Driving Record should be submitted after January
1st as close to the application deadline as possible to ensure it is the
most current record available.

Submit three
(3) recommendation forms from individuals not related to the applicant, but who are
familiar with the applicant's attitude, dependability, honesty, etc.

One page handwritten essay - "Why I want to be a Line Worker"

Successful completion of the Department of Transportation physical. It
must be singed by a physician and submitted to the Office of Admissions.
For priority consideration in the Electrical Distribution Systems program,
all of these items must be received by the Office of Admissions by February 1.
Candidates may submit applications after February 1, but those applications will
not be given preference.
Applications will be accepted until the program is
full.
