Linn State Technical College is offering Medical Radiologic Technology (MRT) starting August 2013 pending approval by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. The MRT program is located at the Nichols Career Center in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Radiologic Technologists are health care professionals who perform diagnostic x-ray examinations in hospitals, clinics and imaging centers. The MRT program equips you with the necessary skills and training to adjust and maintain imaging equipment, precisely follow orders from physicians on what areas of the body to image, prepare patients for procedures (including taking a medical history and answering questions about the procedure), protect the patient by shielding exposed areas that do not need to be imaged, position the patient and the equipment in the location needed to get the correct image, operate the computerized equipment to take the images and keep detailed patient records.
During this 24-month program you’ll complete clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics gaining real world experience. Upon successful completion of the program you will be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam and become a registered Radiologic Technologist.
