Automotive Technology
Motorcycles, all terrain vehicles (ATVs) and
motor scooters are well known for recreational use and practical for
agricultural and business purposes. But there aren’t enough trained technicians
equipped to repair these vehicles.
To meet a growing demand for technicians in
Missouri, LSTC will offer a Powersports Technology program in fall 2006. At the
end of successful study, students will receive an associate of applied science
degree and have the skills to repair and maintain ATVs, motor scooters and
motorcycles.
A recent survey by the Missouri Powersports
Dealer Association indicates the state will need 53 technicians in 2006 and an
additional 57 technicians in 2007. Demand for this field could continue to rise
as recreational, transportation and agricultural vehicle use increases.
