Linn State seeks applicants for Neil Perkins Memorial Scholarship
The Foundation for Linn State Technical College has over $200,000 in scholarships available for students pursuing degrees in technical education at Linn State Technical College. Among those scholarships, is a scholarship established by the family members of the late Neil Perkins.
According to Phyllis Perkins, widow of Neil Perkins, providing some sort of financial support was something she felt moved to do. Although her husband taught as an adjunct instructor for a few short semesters, his commitment to the students and the impact he had on their lives was evident when three of his former students were present for Perkin’s visitation.
“I couldn’t believe it when those young men showed up to pay their respects,” said Perkins. “I knew they had traveled a long distance and taken time out of their lives to come to the visitation. I was deeply touched.”
The $1000 academic scholarship is awarded annually to an individual pursuing an associate of applied science degree at Linn State Technical College in the Construction and Civil Technology or Design Drafting Technology programs.
Priority consideration is also given to students residing in Crawford County where Mr. Perkins and his wife resided for many years.
Over 25 privately sponsored scholarships, including the Neil Perkins Memorial Scholarship, are available to current and prospective students of Linn State through the Foundation for LSTC.
