Otterbasketball returns to Linn State Technical College
On July 11, youth from Missouri and across the country participated in Jason Otter’s School of Basketball camp at Linn State Technical College.
For a second year, Otter and his staff returned to the LSTC Activity Center to offer a full week of basketball training.
Aaron Grefrath, director of the LSTC Activity Center, was pleased to have Otter’s basketball camp on campus for a full week. “Last year, Otter was on campus for only a day,” said Grefrath. “The response was overwhelming.”
A total of 35 students participated in Otter’s four-day Point Guard Elite camp. According to Otter, the camp is four grueling days on the hardwood. The focus of the camp is on player development and taking students through many of the drills that Otter used to build NBA and Division I players he trained.
On Friday, Otter finished the week with two of his 5-hour camps back-to-back. The day began with the Explosive Guard Camp and ended with the Shooting Camp. During the Explosive Guard Camp players were challenged with advanced jump-rope techniques to improve foot speed and learn proper jumping mechanics, in addition to other drills. Players participating in the Shooting Camp focused on shooting efficiency as well as other shooting drills.
Developed by pro trainer Jason Otter, the Otterbasketball system is considered one of the most intense and detail oriented camps in the country. According to Otter, the system combines modern exercise science with good old fashioned hard work. Otter teaches and leads all demonstrations at his camps.
Opening its doors in 2008, the LSTC Activity Center is a state-of-the-art recreational facility available to Linn State students and the surrounding community. The facility includes a gymnasium with three full size basketball courts, a 1/10 mile indoor track, fitness center, aerobics area, indoor archery range and locker rooms.
