LSTC Announces New Program
Starting this fall, Linn State Technical College will offer a new program specifically designed to prepare students to enter and advance in today’s demanding business environment. Whether starting new or ready for a transition, the Management Information Systems Specialist program is for you.
The Coordinating Board for Higher Education approved LSTC to offer the Management Information Systems Specialist General Option and Automated Accounting Systems Option.
“The need for employees to attain higher levels of computer and business knowledge is growing with the increasing use of technology and organizational restructuring,” stated Tom Markway, Computer Programming and Networking Systems Technology Chair.
“The program also serves as an entry-level starting point for those individuals who are laid-off or who desire to transition into a new career.”
Students seeking an Associate of Applied Science degree may choose from either option. The program prepares graduates for entry-level positions such as computer support specialist, office manager, administrative services manager, executive or administrative assistant as well as bookkeeping, accounting or auditing assistant in a variety of business enterprises, government agencies and organizations. Students may also choose to obtain a Management Information Systems Specialist certificate. Many classes will be available online.
