AmerenUE Donates Surplus Bucket Truck to Linn State Technical College
To Help Train Students in Electrical Distribution
AmerenUE today presented a surplus aerial bucket truck to Linn State Technical College in Linn, Mo., for use in the college’s Electrical Distribution Program. The truck will be used to help train students in the construction, operation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.

“Every year we interview graduates of Linn State Technical College, and seek to hire the best,” said Larry Merry, manager of UE’s Central Ozarks Division. “This donation will help the college better train its students, some of whom will eventually become our employees.”
“Nearly a third of the nation’s utility workers are scheduled to retire in the next five years and our students are the future of the industry,” stated Bill Thompson, Linn State Technical College Electrical Distribution Systems Department Chair. “We are very fortunate to have support from industry that allows us to maintain a quality program.”
The truck is a 2001 Ford F550 37-foot bucket truck that was previously used by UE line crews in the St. Charles area. The donation is part of a long-standing UE policy of donating surplus vehicles and other equipment to non-profit organizations when it is still useable.
Linn State Technical College prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning. Founded in 1961, it is Missouri’s only two-year public technical college with a statewide mission. Linn State Technical College offers more than 25 programs and has campuses in Linn, Jefferson City and Mexico. For more information visit www.linnstate.edu.
